MEDIA ALERT: Pokémon Trading Card Game: Sword & Shield—Lost Origin Expansion Launches Today, Marking the Return of the Lost Zone Gameplay Mechanic

Sept. 9, 2022 — The Pokémon Company International has released the latest expansion for the bestselling Pokémon Trading Card Game, Sword & Shield—Lost Origin, available starting today at participating retailers around the world.

In Sword & Shield—Lost Origin, the Lost Zone gameplay mechanic makes its Sword & Shield Series debut. This returning mechanic is similar to the discard pile but prohibits the player from recovering their cards during gameplay. Lost Zone cards, including Giratina VSTAR, feature a shadowy aura emanating from their artwork.

Furthermore, Sword & Shield—Lost Origin takes inspiration from the popular Pokémon Legends: Arceus video game and features Hisuian Pokémon, including six Pokémon VSTAR like Hisuian Goodra VSTAR and Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR. This expansion also includes three new Radiant Pokémon, 14 Pokémon V, one Pokémon VMAX and 30 cards in the Trainer Gallery subset, which features artwork of popular Trainers and Pokémon.

Sword & Shield—Lost Origin is available in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and special collections at Pokémon Center in the US, Canada and UK, as well as other participating retailers.
